I just had to share my first successful educational experience with vegetarian

and vegan diet styles.

In honor of world farm animals' day, I volunteered to make breakfast and lunch

for my fourth grade class and the other 8 fourth grade teachers at my school.

My menu had tofu eggs, hashbrowns, and slices of tofurkey with mixed fruit for

breakfast. The kids RAVED! They were fighting over the grapes :)

Lunch was nachos with tofu crumbles, salsa and guacamole, mac-n-cheez, spinach

dip with broc and carrot dippers, veggie dogs, and lettuce wraps with sauteed

mushrooms, baked tofu, carrot sticks, sprouts, and a creamy sesame dressing.

The teachers all were busy during lunch, except for 1 brave soul :). The kids

came back for thirds and fourths! Before we went to Health class I showed them

the cartoon " Doreen the Downer " and " The Meatrix " . After Health, we came to

eat. While I was serving a small group, a few of the kids went back in my room

and wrote Thank You's on my white board. One of them read " I love plant food " !

I started to tear up when I read that one ;)

I just had to brag to those of you understand this achievement.

Thanks for letting me toot my own horn :)

What a great selection of food and I'm so happy to hear how about your

introduction to all these healthy foods to these kids. They will never forget

it. I bet they would love the recipes to take home to their parents, so they

could make them for them again.

Congratulations and good job!

This sounds so great....what you did!

I just talked to a teacher who has a hospitality class.  She and her class may

help me with a catering job for a club I belong to.  The class will do basically

whatever you ask, in our case desserts.  They dress in black and white with

white gloves, arrange the tables elegantly.  They buy the groceries and charge

only half.  I thought it would so neat down the road to get them to do something

vegetarian.
