It seems the more i do, the pile of them never diminishes! UGGHH.... I have been doing everything with them i can find a recipe for, for long term storage. the kids have been eating them fresh, especially when they see me peeling them to process, they all come running, with hands out for quartered pears (it is good they like fruit i guess lol), but i myself haven't had any time to do any actual baking with them (i.e. pies, etc.) since i want them taken care of before they spoil. I have been canning them, freezing them, dehydrating them. Pear sauce(like apple), pear honey (good on pancakes, waffles, ice cream), pear butter (like apple), pear pie filling, pears in syrup, spiced pears....even though it is alot of work, i am truly thankful with the economy and a limited food budget, i will be really glad i have them (especially when they're all done.lol). one thing i learned is that if you do enough of them, they stain your hands. i would have never guessed that.haha stacy
