Guest guest
I made these yesterday and they are sinfully delicious! I think I will present my neighbors with some this weekend. Myrtle Walnut-Date Snack Bars 1 pkg. yellow cake mix, 18.25 ounce 3/4 cup packed brown sugar 3/4 cup margarine or butter melted 2 large eggs 2 cups chopped dates 2 cups chopped walnuts or pecans Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Generously grease 13-by-9-inch pan. In large bowl, combine cake mix and brown sugar; blend well. Add margarine and eggs; beat 2 minutes at medium speed. In medium bowl, combine dates and walnuts; mix well. Stir date mixture into cake batter; blend well. (Batter will be stiff.) Spread evenly in greased pan. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Let cool 10 minutes. Run knife around sides of pan to loosen. Let cool 1 hour or until completely cooled. Cut into bars. Store in tightly covered container. Yields 24 bars.
