Guest guest
This time your question of the week will be answered later Judy, we still don't know what we are doing as far as traveling or hosting. There is even a possibility of us going camping in the desert just with the dogs as well. In either case, I am thinking peach pies (from our own preserved peaches), something made with pecans (from our tree), and something made from butternut squash (several in storage from garden bounty). There might be bounty from outside the garden as well, my DSO's employer sometimes distributes 'excess' food from filming food commercials and there is a food filming job just before Thanksgiving. , " wwjd " <jtwigg wrote: > > Time for another Question of the Week - (Thanks Alvii for this question > suggestion) > > How will you celebrate Thanksgiving - - It's just a month away - WOW - > Please elaborate > about the special way you celebrate this wonderful holiday. > > 1)At home with just your immediate family > > 2)Entertaining family and friends at your home and if so how many and do you > make it work best > > 3)Potluck with a group somewhere > > 4)Go over to family / friends home > > 5)Go out to a Restaurant > > 6)or any other way - - > > ***Please share your favorite side dishes outside of mashed white or sweet > potatoes, green bean casserole.**** > > Do you put up your Christmas Tree on Thanksgiving day or weekend? > > Here's to lots of great ideas from everyone for everyone! > Judy >
Guest guest
This year we are having Thanksgiving at our house. It will only be myself, my husband, my Dad and Step Mom. Small but wonderful. The meal will be mainly vegetarian. With a small amount of food for those who eat different, but I know my Step Mom will try whatever I make in place of my turkey. Guest guest
I'll be going to my parents' house, and hopefully we'll be having a nice family dinner with the grandparents. I'm looking forward to taking home some new recipes to try out and share! Also might experiment with Tofurkey, but I'm a little skeptical. > > , " wwjd " <jtwigg@> wrote: > > > > Time for another Question of the Week - (Thanks Alvii for this question > > suggestion) > > > > How will you celebrate Thanksgiving - - It's just a month away - WOW - > > Please elaborate > > about the special way you celebrate this wonderful holiday. > > > > 1)At home with just your immediate family > > > > 2)Entertaining family and friends at your home and if so how many > and do you > > make it work best > > > > 3)Potluck with a group somewhere > > > > 4)Go over to family / friends home > > > > 5)Go out to a Restaurant > > > > 6)or any other way - - > > > > ***Please share your favorite side dishes outside of mashed white or > sweet > > potatoes, green bean casserole.**** > > > > Do you put up your Christmas Tree on Thanksgiving day or weekend? > > > > Here's to lots of great ideas from everyone for everyone! > > Judy > > >
Guest guest
Thanksgiving is next week! I was not able to answer the QOTW since we did not know our plans yet....we are going camping to the desert and taking the 4 dogs. (We will 'do' family for Christmas). I asked about the menu, and baked butternut squash ravioli were requested. How am I going to do this while camping I still don't know, but I am pretty sure we'll figure out how to improvise an oven at the campsite...LOL. Hey, at least I can't complain that my cooking is under-challenged... The raviolis are really good, I posted them here but I will re-post since we have so many new members and this works out great for a holiday vegetarian main dish. It does work better if you are in a house with an oven (and a stove top is nice too) , " wwjd " <jtwigg wrote: > > Time for another Question of the Week - (Thanks Alvii for this question > suggestion) > > How will you celebrate Thanksgiving - - It's just a month away - WOW - > Please elaborate > about the special way you celebrate this wonderful holiday. > > 1)At home with just your immediate family > > 2)Entertaining family and friends at your home and if so how many and do you > make it work best > > 3)Potluck with a group somewhere > > 4)Go over to family / friends home > > 5)Go out to a Restaurant > > 6)or any other way - - >
Guest guest
That sounds like a wonderful trip, you could take a telescope and do some star gazing! The raviolis look delicious! They also would freeze well I'd think. You could freeze cooked portions then just warm up over the fire in a foil or parchment pouch! Have fun on your trip and thanks for the recipe --- On Mon, 11/17/08, rosetalleo <rosetalleo wrote: rosetalleo <rosetalleo Re: Question of the Week - How will you celebrate Thanksgiving and your favorite Monday, November 17, 2008, 8:57 PM Thanksgiving is next week!
