Guest guest
-Steph, I like to make my own comination of teas using home grown herbs or organic bulk. My favorites are Red Clover, Lavender flowers, Lemon Balm, Rose Hip and Mint. I have these wonderful little tea infusers and I just add one or more of the above depending on my mood. Sometimes I add a mixture with organic green tea. Guest guest
I'm with you Steph. I also grow my own teas. My favorite is the mints w/ lemon balm. This summer I added the Stevia plant (some call it the sugar plant) to my herb garden. It didn't do that well, however, I did get some leaves off it. It's very potent. Alittle goes a long way. No I don't have to add sweeteners to my brew. " Only a biker knows why a dog holds his head out a car window. Guest guest
Irish Breakfast Blend for morning, flavored (not herbals, blech ptooie) black teas through the day and Irish Breakfast Blend decaf in the evening. I have a semi roasted Oolong (came without a name, darnit) that is quite lovely and a vanilla roiboos that is good mixed with one of my flavored blacks or Constant Comment. Tried Golden Monkey this past week and it is GOOD. If it was a wee bit cheaper, I'd drink it daily. ooh yes and another Fujian called Fujian Baroque Awesome website is Adagio teas, they also have an active bulletin board called Tea Chat. Jeanne in GA PS no monkeys were harmed in the production of Golden Monkey. It is comes from the Fujian province in China. The golden tips of the leaves curl to look a lot like a monkey's claw. Here's a link. Did I mention it is yummy? http://www.adagio.com/black/golden_monkey.html?SID=e84a41a4c3548b47241015f0f132b\ fad Very yummy, rich, flavorful, awesome
Guest guest
Oh.Boy. you HAD to ask. I found a tea company out there that makes a tea using a new fusion method. Get this. You can taste the tea and the flavor.ohhhhh. RITUALS Coffee Company, Columbia, MD. The Raspberry Herbal is sooooo good. as is the Apple Cin-sin-nnnnnnnaaaah-man!. The Darjeeling Black tea is full of Antioxidants (did I spell that right?) They offer a Orange Spice that (IMHO) is better than Constant comment. But my go to tea, when I really want to enjoy.is.Stash Premium Chai Spice Black tea. Th'e noir Chai " epice " One more. I have been drinking a Green tea from Salada, with Oil of Bergamot.Oh, yum..Called Earl Green, Green tea. Guest guest
Donna, I am so with you about the mint anything teas. BLECH!!! I did come up with a new candy, though. A friend sent me a green tea powder without a name and I'm not a green tea person but figured what the heck, added a bit to some melted white chocolate and dropped tablespoons of it on waxed paper. It was oddly good with a " what the heck is that flavor " from the green tea. The candies were gorgeous, a streaky speckled green against the white chocolate. Oooooooooooooooh, and did you know that there is a Qi tea liqueur? I forgot, the tea blooms were really good and the appearance of them in my clear glass pot was incredible as they unfurled. Exquisite. I love tea. Starting on my third pot of the day. A nice, malty-smoky Assam with a tiny bit of rum for pain (1 teaspoon per 8 ounce mug, lol). Guest guest
I drink lemon with dried lavender, matcha, jasmine green, dark black strong tea, honeybush, roobios, Celestial teas are good as cold teas, Lady Grey is wonderful, German rose hips fruit teas and eveything between. Guest guest
I purchase PG tips and sometimes green tea (different brands). For herbal teas I am almost self sufficient! We have wintergreen and spearmint growing, which we like a lot. I also have lemon verbena growing, delightful and mixes well with mints (for those who like it). I also tried to grow chamomile and it died on me, but this is another one I like a lot, so I will try growing it again. Finally, I know of a plant that has leaves that have a spicy taste and that are used in herbal teas, I plan on buying some and using it as hedges. I will write back once I find out the name of it. The taste is like a blend of clover and cinnamon. , " mrswalp29 " <mrswalp29 wrote: > > Hi everyone! I thought it would be fun to know everyones favorite tea > and brand of you have one. Guest guest
I'm not sure which green it was, but comparing it online it looks more like matcha than gunpowder. Some of the tea melted into the chocolate, and some stayed more as flecks. It was really pretty and I actually liked it, though the greens aren't my usual tea. My friend sometimes sends me things she knows I like and since she isn't a tea person... Since my gastro system is still being a pest, I tried Yogi tea ginger tea. Dear heaven it was ghastly! Shudderingly awful. They even had black pepper in it! ACK! So now I'm sticking with a pot of Irish Breakfast made rather weak with finely chopped candied ginger or chopped plain ginger root. Good thing I love ginger, lol! Do try a tiny bit of the choc with matcha or one of the finely ground greens. The flavors went together rather nicely - sort of like letting a bit of chocolate melt in your mouth as you take a sip of tea. Found a lovely chai and am having it right now with a spash of milk and honey. So odd how different sweetener brings out different notes. Tonight's primary note is cardamon (YUM), but earlier today it was more cinnamon. The newest dumpee kitten named herself - she won't keep her face out of my Oolong, especially the Ali Sang. Guest guest
Hi! I have a LOT of teas (LOL!) I tell folks I " collect " teas whenever we travel anywhere. I bring home consumable souvenirs such as teas, home-made soaps, and small bags or jars of dry beans or rice. Strange, huh>! At one time, my tea " collection " filled 2 wide cupboard shelves and I counted over 100 different teas and herbal " teas " . I love flavored black teas, some green teas and a few " white " tea types and flavors. I found a flavored recently called " Cream of Earl Grey " --it had a vanilla and " cream " -like flavor under the familiar Earl Grey aromatic flavorings. I like it a lot! I also found a wonderful " Plum Oolong " bulk tea quite some time ago from a Whole Foods--they don't carry it anymore, so once my Plum Oolong ran out, I could not replace it. It had the most exotic, flowery/fruity, complex yet mild tea flavor I've ever had. Sad to not have any more of it! Another herbal " tea' I love for bedtime is " Linden Flowers " herbal tea. I have another that's Chamomile and " Lime " (Linden also) flowers, and another that's Chamomile and Spearmint--these all 3 are really RELAXING and as good or better than anything I know to help one wind down and sleep REALLY WELL. Most of the times I've had it before bedtime, I've slept like the proverbial baby thu the night! Linden seems to be the most relaxing tea I've tried. (I have heard Lavender is similar in effect, but I've never tried it.) Finally, I really savor a cup of hot " Rose " tea, Chocolate Mint (flavored black tea or the Herb itself-- " chocolate mint " , which makes a tea that tastes just like mint-chocolate! And there is Lapsang Souchong tea--smells tantalizingly like a smoky campfire on a briskly cold day--but tastes mellow and " woody " , with something like sassafrass with a hint of cedar! My DH can't get past that campfire smoky smell--but the tea itself has a surprising flavor that I just love. Ok, no clear-cut favorites, but overall, I am a tea-drinker and, now that it's been mentioned, I think I'll go to the kitchen and make a " cuppa " ! Guest guest
Laura - Google is your friend!! Do a quick search on " plum oolong tea " and you should come up with a bunch of places that carry it - in tea bags as well as in bulk. Hope that may be of some help to you?
