Guest guest
So,on my quest to eat better,I have started the changing oil to applesause idea.I am upset that I find this healthy change gross,my oatmeal cookies and my brownies(once in a while splurge)just dont taste good to me.Is everyone else doing this and satisfied?Sadly I want to throw the stuff away, and put OIL in it,those used to be really yummy! Guest guest
Instead of taking your recipes and trying to alter them why don't you get a copy of The Joy of Vegan Baking or use some of the vegan dessert recipes in our recipe file? I bake with butter and eggs but I also bake vegan desserts and I do not take any of my old family recipes and alter the ingredients, most of the time it doesn't work. The ones I have altered had plenty of trial and error until I got it right. Guest guest
Baking really is a science and each ingredient is important to the process.? While I sometimes use applesauce, I may replace say half the oil as opposed to all.? I think you may like the outcome better if you try that, especially if the goodies are only " a once in a while splurge. " ? I rarely eat desserts, but when I do, I prefer the real thing. Guest guest
Just so you don't give up. If something doesn't taste go then try try again, there are so many good recipes to try. Failing is the process of getting it right the next time. I could write in here for days and make you laugh too as some of the things I've done in the kitchen. Guest guest
The only thing I made with applesauce that I liked was banana nut bread. I dumped yogurt into it too, and it came out really heavy and moist (like a bread pudding). I ate it with a fork!
