Guest guest
I know this sounds like an odd combination of ingredients, but it is delicious! Sweet and spicy and the flavors blend nicely. Makes a great reuben (slice of tempah, saeurkraut, slice of veggie cheese, grilled onions, toasted, yum! *drool*) Also nice to dry leftovers and make bread crumbs for spicy burgers or crumble in a salad. 1 cup water 1 tablespoon molasses 1 tablespoon agave 1 tablespoon oil 1/4 cup smashed canned pear 1 teaspoon salt 2 cups all purpose flour *1 cup rye flour* *1/2 cup soaked, drained, then ground whole rye* 2 tablespoons brown sugar 1 tablespoon carob powder 1 1/2 teaspoon caraway seed 1 teaspoon cayenne powder (use much less if you don't like spicy stuff) 2 teaspoons instant yeast * if you don't have rye flour and whole rye, substitute 2 cups rye flour for these two items Throw everything into a bread machine and pick the normal cycle, or knead until it forms nice elastic dough, let rest and double in size in warm spot, punch down, form into a loaf and let rise again and bake in preheated 350 F Oven for 25-30 minutes. If kneading by hand, you'll likely need to add a little more AP flour - it is not a tight dough.
