When I Google this...I get... produced from matured coconuts and

the white coconut meat is granulated into the various desired sizes and is

available as Macaroons, Medium, Flakes, Fancy Shreds, or Chips.

I am endeavoring to make the Turkish Rosewater rice pudding...

Last night, victory and I searched the shelves of three Grocery stores

for Desiccated coconut. I ask store People and they looked at me like

I had a horn growing out of my forehead...and took me to the baking

dept, only to find the standard flaked Coconut on the shelves...

Should I just granulate (chop) the standard flaked coconut into what

looks like sugar?

It is so wonderful to have this group to ask questions...

Hugs, chef.

Sorry for the late reply on this, chef. Are the coconut flakes you

mention like the picture on this page?:

Desiccated coconut over here is usually chopped much finer, but I can

see no reason you couldn't use these little flakes. The coconut flakes

we have over here are much bigger and to me that would seem a little

strange on this pudding. Have fun with it - I used chopped pistachios

and flaked almonds which were both great on this pudding.
