Guest guest
does soy milk actually taste like milk? just wondering. ive never tried it. mariah Pete Self <self.pete Vegetarian Group Monday, November 10, 2008 1:26:32 PM Soy Beans prep question I make fresh soy milk (stovetop method) every 2-3 days. I keep drooling over a Soyabella but haven't justfied spending the oney, because mine is so good. As part of my routine, after soaking the beans, I place them in a bowl of hot water for a few minutes and rub them together to remove as many of the outermost transparent coating on the beans, as I find this eliminates most if not all of the beany taste. This process takes a long time - well not really, only about 5-10 minutes, but it seems like a long time. My question is, has anyone who makes homemade soy milk ever tried to use a food mill to do this step. I'm just wondering if it would be worth it to buy one and how effectively it would remove those out shells and allow everything else to get in. That's my question, and of course, I always welcome other suggestions on how to make this process go quicker. Thanks in advance, Pete
Guest guest
Never having liked the taste of milk, I think it tastes far better.? My soy milk of choice is Vanilla Silk.? I use it on cereal, for baking, etc.? I find that soy milk has a much richer taste than regular milk.?? They make plain, vanilla, chocolate and I love the coffee flavored.? You can buy a really small container...try it, you may be pleasantly surprised. does soy milk actually taste like milk? just wondering. ive never tried it. ? mariah
Guest guest
Not like cow milk, much better. I can't stand the taste of drinking cow milk. The vanilla soymilk almost taste like a weak vanilla milkshake. I buy the unsweetened to substitute in savory recipes. I love both of the vanilla(which I water down a little bit for my taste) and the unsweetened. The chocolate silk soymilk I have to dilute down with the unsweetened plain soymilk, because it is to sweet and chocolate tasting for my taste, but we are all different. I just add some herseys chocolate syrup to some plain soymilk or vanilla silk soymilk and then I add just the amount I enjoy. I use the vanilla silk when I make the Sharon's Pumpkin Oatmeal in the breakfast recipe files. I love that stuff and it really fills you up and is so healthy.
