Guest guest
I LOVE veggie junk food. My favorite is a veggie chilli dog on a whole wheat bun that I used to get from a little cafe I ended up working @. (I worked for money not veggie dogs but I probably would have entertained working 4 veggie dogs! ; > ) that chilli, unlike mine was perfect on that chilli dog. I loved that spot because there was food for all, from sophisticated and complicated raw food plates to fresh juices to spinage pie to beef hot dogs. It was fun introducing hard core meat eaters and other folks to food they had never heard of and were very suspicios of. They felt safe enough to try something new and often ended up very pleaantly surprised! anGELA Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile " Elizabeth Jamros " <ejamros Thu, 13 Nov 2008 10:16:36 Re: Question of the Week - What's for Dinner Tonight I'm having leftovers at work, veggie pot pie. Guest guest
I always loved hot dogs. But, now, if I crave one, I get the veggie hot dog. I have no idea what they taste like, as I put lots of mustard and onions and relish on them. <g> sue mrs.fabulous wrote: > > > I LOVE veggie junk food. > > My favorite is a veggie chilli dog on a whole wheat bun that I used to > get from a little cafe I ended up working @. Guest guest
Me too and it's the one of the few?things I still miss even after almost 20 years of being veg.? I think I've tried all the veggie ones and have yet to find one that I find palatable....too rubbery, too bland, etc., etc., etc.? Maybe that's the secret... to doctor them up so you don't notice how awful they really are.? I find it odd that they can do so much with all the different meat analogs, but they can't perfect a veggie?hot dog.? TM I always loved hot dogs. But, now, if I crave one, I get the veggie hot dog. I have no idea what they taste like, as I put lots of mustard and onions and relish on them. <g> sue
Guest guest
Worthington Big Franks!! I did the same thing, TM -- tried every brand I could find, but the Worthington Big Franks are pretty darn good. I hated the Tofu Pups, Morningstar, LightLife, etc. brands. A little spicy mustard is all those Big Franks need. They come in a can, there's 8 or 10 in a can. I eat a couple and then freeze the rest, and they freeze very well. Audrey S. Guest guest
Same here. I don't care for the sausage either, so I cut them up and use them in spaghetti. Guest guest
I see Amazon carries them, but you have to buy a case (12 cans).? Ummm, I don't think so...I think I need to try them first before I go that route. I'll keep on looking. Guest guest
Yes, the corn dogs are good, but their regular dogs are terrible. I wonder why that is.? Wouldn't you think they'd use the same ones?
Guest guest
That was my problem too! I shop at Amazon for other things, so i at the Worthington and the Loma Linda but the minimum is 12 cans. They are a good deal if you like them, but too risky is you have not tried them before. I will look for them at stores, so i can try one can at a time.... , TendrMoon wrote: > > I see Amazon carries them, but you have to buy a case (12 cans).? Guest guest
I agree the " hot dogs " are truly lousy. I think the reason they can't make them taste like the real thing is that they don't want to put all the preservatives and other junk in them that the " real " ones have. Guest guest
My main objection to the riblets is that they're too sweet.? I understand that they're supposed to mimic BBQ'd ribs, but I can't recall ever recall the real thing ever tasting that sweet.? I really find them kind of nauseating.? Just load everything with sugar and they will come...overkill, all the time overkill.

Guest guest
Are Loma Linda Big Franks the same as Worthington Big Franks? Loma Linda seems to be made by Worthington. My local Whole Foods doesn't seem to carry them. I've found two places on line that do but they want me to buy a case. I don't think I want to buy a case quite yet. Amazingly enough 12 20-ounce cans on Amazon cost $48.76 (18.6 pounds). The same case at foodservicedirect.com cost $106.65 (18.7 pounds). Well, if I ever decide to buy a case I know where to get it online. On another topic my local Whole Foods does not carry the Celebration Field Roast. There are many places in San Francisco that carry it but I just have to drive over there to get it which means a good two to three hour chunk of time. Hm. . . . I bet I could find those Worthington Franks someplace in SF but the question is exactly where. Guest guest
I was very glad I tried one can of the Skallops instead of ordering a case from Amazon because I hated them. I like the FriChik enough to have now signed up for a subscription via Amazon - it works out to half the price of 12 individual cans at the store. My local Fred Meyer carries most of the Worthington canned stuff but for some reason they keep moving them around the store so I always have to hike around looking for them lol. Do you have Fred Meyer stores where you are? They are part of Kroger. hth, Peace, Diane , " rosetalleo " <rosetalleo wrote: > > That was my problem too!
