Irene gave great instructions and I can add some approximate amounts

that work for me. (I made some in the crockpot yesterday.)

1 pound dried split peas

3 carrots

1 parsnip

2-3 ribs of celery

1-2 small onions

6-7 cups water or vegetable broth

Season it up however you like. I used salt, pepper, onion powder,

garlic, cumin and some smoked paprika. Sometimes we add a few drops of

liquid smoke too.
