I agree with you. There is no certain alternative product out there that will appeal to all of us for one reason or another. I think it's fantastic there are so many items to select from. It makes the transition so much easier for a new vegetarian. I make my own burgers but I keep some of the alternative products on hand because it's nice to have a tasty quick fix meal too. Sometimes I like to perk up my spaghetti sauce with Tofurky Italian sausage. I also enjoy the crunchy waterchestnuts and red pepper flakes in the Asian burger by Morningstar. Another thing you can do with riblets is make a nice spiced up lentil stew, toss some potatoes in it and add a chopped up riblet, it really makes a hearty stew. The BBQ sauce gives it that smokey flavor. Donna Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile

Guest guest
Thanks My current method works pretty good... i have four of those little quart crock pots, and before i go to bed each night, i usually put on whatever i'm goign to have the next day, cook on low, so I really don't have to wait for anything, but some days it would be nice to have to deal with cleaning up . I'm certainly thankful for canned beans I guess grains would be ok, cooked then frozen in bags, thaw in fridge over night, never tried it --- On Sat, 11/15/08, wwjd <jtwigg wrote: wwjd <jtwigg Re: Pete and quick cooking grains Saturday, November 15, 2008, 5:25 AM http://www.amazon. com/Ancient- Harvest-Quinoa- Flakes-12- Ounce/dp/ B000KPU474 Also look near the middle of the page for other products.. Guest guest
> i've not seen the quinoa flakes or the barley, but i'll look into > them, thank you Quinoa has a soapy quality to its outer layer which must be washed off before cooking. The flakes, which don't need washing, look like teensy fish scales and they cook in a heartbeat in the microwave. I don't really love their flavor on their own, but I often use them in bread. Adding cooked cereal to bread dough makes for a more interesting texture, adds additional flavors/nutrition, and keeps the bread a bit moister. ~ irene
