Guest guest
Pizza! Got the counter floured from making pies and the rolling pin at the ready, the oven's already hot, might as well make the most of it...besides, it's as far from the tastes and smells of Thanksgiving as you can get, so my salivatory glands will be all set come tomorrow (kind of like a lemon ice to cleanse the palate - pizza to cleanse the palate???) Guest guest
About 7:30 last night I found out that son number 4, his wife and kids were staying home for Thanksgiving, hoped we were cooking the whole thing, and they didn't have anything other than ramen noodles in the house. YIKES! So Carl and I ran all over the place trying to find *you know what*, stuff for Kimmie's broccoli casserole, Brandon's favorite cornbread with corn and cheese, Jarod's banana pudding, Stephen's *deleted* and my stuffing. Since I already have most of what had been planned for our no stress High Tea (pecan tarts, lemon bars, cucumber sandwiches (not put together, but have it ready to go), stuffed mushrooms, broccoli casserole (now I have to make another, Kimmie really likes that stuff) and deviled eggs, I can stretch that out a bit. I'll cook the *You know what*, broccoli casserole, cornbread and stuff and pack it in the truck along with the big Churchill and Brown Betty teapots and tea. Right now Carl is trying to find a can of cranberry sauce (is what they prefer to homemade) and pumpkin pies. Stephen wants pumpkin pies and I'm not quite up to making the pie crust right now so they're getting store bought! Bet I'll end up doing the dishes there tomorrow as well. Ugh. I have to go brine the *You Know What* and try not to barf while doing it, get the um....... parts cooking for Stephen's gravy. Not sure I can face that Thing without a pot of tea and something for my tummy. Why can't they be vegetarian??????!!!!!!! Oh God. Kimmie just called and asked for the killer sweet potato casserole. Easy, bake sweet potatoes, peel, mash, spice up with cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, spoon into casserole dish. Mix together melted butter, brown sugar, coconut and chopped pecans and put heavily over the mashed sweet potatoes. I figure it's got about 1,000 calories per bite but it is a family tradition. Whimper. I think I'll just have a couple neopolitan hershey's kisses and a pot of tea. Love and hugs and happy Thanksgiving day in advance, Jeanne in GA
