Guest guest
Hi Carol: Please check out the recipe folder under 'substitutes for meats " resetalleo has a good description there of how to make seitan, and Judy as well I think Also, you can find several videos on youtube.com - in the search field type " how to make seitan " It's super-easy though... in a nutshell, mix gluten with water and spices, knead it to form a dough, cut into half of the size you want, boil it in something flavorful, and eat it (you can do all kinds of other stuff with it too). To make from regular flour, make a thick dough of flour, salt and water (5 cups flour, 2.5 cups water, 2 T salt is a good ratio), knead or mix until dough no longer sticks to your fingers, then put in large strainer under running water, and keep 'washing' the dough, until the water runs clear under the strainer... th ere's your gluten, enjoy and good luck hope that gets you started, have fun --- On Thu, 11/27/08, Carol <manhattantomontaukrealtor wrote: Carol <manhattantomontaukrealtor Seitan. how to make it sucessfully Thursday, November 27, 2008, 3:42 AM I have alwaysbought it and it is expensive when you use 3-4 paackage.
