Guest guest
Laura, corn can be good. I harvested my second crop this year and did not use any fertilizer (I do use compost). I have a new mill (hand cranked) and we made the most fabulous corn bread with our own blue corn! I interplant pole beans for nitrogen fixing and also plant beans in between (and add compost). I do not use any chemical fertilizer, or pesticides, and we are feeding ourselves quite well, at least the fruit and veggie part. I use heirloom corn though, none of that hybrid stuff for me. I am already planning my next 3 sister garden for early spring. Roseta (in Los Angeles, where not too many other folks grow corn....LOL) >
