Congrats! I'm so happy she found a loving home. This is how my Koko was when I

got him. My nephew was a very young boy and Koko hugged his face and he never

stopped from that first day on. He is the only one he would do this to. Almost

19 yrs later with much larger paws he would reach right out to Mo and rub his

face.

Nevermind, they want to give her back now! Apparently, she hissed and

growled periodically in the night (who could blame her, new place??) and the

woman doesn't want her 7-year-old to be afraid of animals. Oh, people...

grrr....!

Oh man!  This is the problem with many people taking on new pets.  They don't

walk in the pets paws and understand how it feels to be taken to a new home.  My

little Mee Mee was a 2 lb.  ball of fear when I adopted her, they adopted her

out and she was abused by the son and dog and brought her back the next day.

Luckily Taz loved her as soon as I brought her home.

It took almost a year for her to get where she is now, she sleeps on me,

purrrrrs non-stop and will even chase Taz now.

Maybe she is meant to be with you.

Hugs

Yes, people who don't know animals.....probably best that they give her

up now before the poor cat is traumatized!

We just adopted 2 new kitties (we have a sweet 6yo female black cat)

and these 2 (also black! I LOVE black kitties) are 5 months (male) and

6-7 months (female). They arrived last Sunday and we heard

hissing/growling several times a day back and forth as they worked out

their places. Yesterday was the first day my 6yo cat felt comfortable

enough in the same room for an extended period of time. They new cats

are very sweet as well (I chose them for that specifically), and I

think in time they'll be fine. And the older cat gets to sleep in the

bedroom with me, babies aren't allowed yet. She needs to feel she's

still important and can have her " space " without them jumping on her in

the middle of the night - they have each other for that.

The black ones are sometimes left behind, I think it's just because they

don't show up so well in the cages, like a calico or a tabby shows up. Could

be some superstition as well. One of the sweetest kittens I ever fostered

was a little black boy kitty, he was such a love! He was adopted, despite

his color. Some people who have done cat rescue longer than me swear that

black male cats are the most loving. Your little kitties are lucky to have

you! Hopefully they'll figure out fast that your 6yo is going to run the

show! :)

Sally only lasted 15 hours. My aunt still claims the record -- 3 hours for a

dog, returned because their dog " didn't like the new one. " Geez! I've

decided that Sally is staying -- I'm not putting her or me through that

again! I don't want to call her " Monster " anymore, because she really isn't,

but I don't like " Sally. " So I'm trying to find a new name, preferably

something that starts with an " M " -- my other two torties are Maudie and

Myrtle. :)

Well, he's my 2nd black male and I'd have to agree about the loving

part! He's on my desk " helping " me type right now, purring up a

storm. Every once in a while he'll gently reach up with his soft

paws and just touch my face, it's SO cute! He's a typical kitten

though, and has also earned a few nick names... Hell Boy, Trouble,

etc, but he's very, very sweet! I always look for black kitties

first! And I think it's the superstition thing too. I've heard from

several people that yellow tiger cats tend to be somewhat " strange "

(and we DID have one years ago that had some strange behaviors).

They figured out by day 2 or 3 that Zoe is definitely running the

show. She's warming up to them, it better each day and I'm so glad

to see it!

I'm glad you're keeping her!

Don't forget that in parts of Europe black cats are considered GOOD luck.

Keep your self surrounded by them. LOL

You could name her mystic.

My cats don't usually have normal cat names, years ago I had a black

tabby/Persian mix his name was Rover, I had a white cats whose name was

midnight, I

currently have a gray cat named Fido and an orange cat named blueberry 2

years ago I had to put to sleep my gray cat named Hoppy and over the summer I

had to put to sleep her brother a black cat named Dino. We also had a rabbit

named foo foo. I have told my family no more animals for now as we just

don't have the space and none of us are home enough.

Wow, you guys are awesome! Lots of cat lovers here! :)

I think I like Matilda the best (it sounds onery!) we'll see how she

responds to it. I need to stop calling her Monster :( because she isn't

anymore! I really prefer people names for my animals. :) Of the animals who

live with me that didn't already come with names, I have Norman the parrot,

Jack the dog, and Maudie and Myrtle the cats. (Goldie and Casey, the

parrots, came with their names, which fit them).

Thanks!!

Thor, the other is well kind of feral, but I occasionaly let him in, but what a

mess he makes!!! He is Yoshi.  I like different names.  Oh and Yoshi is nearly

all black but has some white patches on his belly and face.

In my SCA life, I'm known as Matilda. I don't think I'm seen as ornery, though I

have been

know to be energetic and feisty from time to time. Even opinionated. But not

actually

ornery. I work to stay within some boundaries. ;-)

not Waltzing Matilda because waltzes came after 1600 and my Matilda is earlier
