Yes, As I am Diabetic and have been since I was 11 years old. I'm not

overweight and was not when I developed it. I was 78lbs and 5'2. Anyway, I

have to use sweeteners. And I must say their is lots of hype about how bad they

are for you. But, when this is all you can have, it is what you use. And I

think they taste great. Many of my friends have even switched to diet coke

after being around me for a while, just for the fact that regular sodas contain

so many empty calories and sugar.

I try to stay away from it. Any drinks I sweeten

with stevia and/or turbinado. Honey for tea.

I use regular sugar for cooking.

Why I asked is because I have a recipe that is TNT from black bean

brownies. It is sensational. I posted it. You would never know that

it was black beans. I used artificial sweetener, but it can be used

with sugar. I avoid sugar. My doctor has recommended I use Stevia, but

that it is very strong and I am not sure how much to use.

Anyway, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it. LOL

no, i use raw sugar, mint leaves, honey and maple syrup.

I finally figured out what my main migraine trigger is, ASPERTAME, so i'm a big

advocate of getting it removed off the shelves. I prefer a more nature made

approach to things, and my body seems to prefer it too. There are so many

reports now leading me to believe that aspertame maybe a big contributer of

memory loss and alztheimers (sorry my spelling is all over the place today).

I don't have a sweet tooth, I consume sugary things very rarely, so I

use the real thing when I do (sugar, maple syrup, honey). Sometimes I

bake cookies or flan for someone that is seriously underweight so I

try to get as many calories in there as I can. Also, health

considerations aside, I cannot stand the taste of those things.

Absolutely not.

Will never put man made chemicals into my body intentionally.

With me a piece of fruit is sweet enough for me. Don't really eat

sweets like cookies or cakes.

I noticed that there are 2 new stevia products in the sugar aisle in the

grocery store (Hannafords). I tried one named Purevia - it was OK. I needed

more in my coffee than regular sugar for the same sweetness, but it didn't

give me a headache like the old " dietary supplement " stevia I got at the

health food store. I haven't tried nor can I remember the name of the other

one. I tend to use sucralose for things I merely want sweet (coffee, etc.)

and real sugar in it's various forms (agave nectar, sugar, honey, maple

syrup etc.) for things that require the chemical interaction of real sugar

(yeast breads, most baking actually). Regrettably, I have a massive sweet

tooth and a predisposition for type 2 diabetes, so I think sugar

alternatives are going to be part of my life whether I like it or not. The

Purevia is a help though, kinda gives me some hope.

xylitol is a laxative. Use it judiciously.
