Guest guest
I have not yet tried seitan. The only way I have ever liked tofu is from Whole Foods' deli, in Kung Pao Tofu. So I know that I like it if it's prepared well! It was wonderful, but I just can't do anything with tofu to make it resemble food in any way I'm going to forget about it for a while, I might mess around with it some other time. Audrey S. Guest guest
I like the smoked/baked tofu, I put it plus some quorn pieces in a stir fry (yeah, I do lots of those! and my family will eat them so I can make them without meat). I've also tried that " dry fry " method for tofu someone posted about a while back, it was good. And another way that was also posted here, marinated and baked, I cut it in small cubes, it was a hit with my daughter's " vegetarian " friends! I sometimes fry the extra firm cut into cubes or smallish pieces to get a little color on it, add some tumeric and garlic powder, add to stir fry, it all gets " lost " that way. I also like to freeze it, defrost and squeeze the water out and make mock tuna or chicken salad (I can see Donna cringing! lol). oh, I had some " chicken " salad made with TVP from Whole Foods (trying to find things hubby will try that may " fool " him! (he's more willing to try it without over thinking if he doesn't know up front)-it was pretty good, a little bland so I jazzed it up with seasonings. I have some TVP but haven't tried it yet, I think I'm going to soon. I also had seitan (packaged) that I didn't like, odd flavor, so I'm leary to try it again real soon, but I will eventually. Next I'm trying those veggie burgers Donna posted and also the chick pea cutlets from Veganomicon! Jann Audrey Snyder <AudeeBird wrote: > I have not yet tried seitan.
