I don't think it's bad. Now Armorall, I think that stuff stinks to high hell

-- I made the mistake of using the dashboard wipes once... ick!

-Donna,

I so agree. If you want your car or house to have a particular aroma, purchase

organic liquid scent in a non-spray bottle. A few drops of my favorite Lavender

essential oil is what I use. I put mine in a small clay container especially

made for it. Breathing any kind of spray household deoderant is unhealthy.

Another healthy way of scenting the air is to place a container of natural herbs

and spices on your wood stove or heater. Oh and by the way burning a candle is

not such a good idea either. If you must, use a bee's wax unscented candle. But

save it for a special occasion because any flame uses oxygen in an enclosed

space.

All of our household detergents, softeners etc, I buy

without fragrances added and, if I can find them (can't

always) also no colors/dyes added.

Currently our house, well at least the kitchen/dining

room area, is being scented by freesias I just cut and

placed in there. Their fragrance can certainly fill a room.

Our large rhododendron is starting to bloom and it fills

the bedrooms (it is right next to them) with a marvelous

fragrance when the windows are open.

I make most of our candles and I only occasionally add

some scent/fragrance, maybe about 2 or 3 out of 100.

We don't use any spray household deodorant either.

Most of the year we're able to open the windows in the

daytime. December and January can be a bit too chilly

but there are some nice days in even those months.

Of course we live in the San Francisco Bay area and

not a colder northern clime.

I do occasionally burn incense.

I like Febreeze too. Certain scents appeal to more than others. Ride with

your windows down and it will air out the strong scent.

I like Febreeze but maybe your dad used too much of it. Maybe you could either

open your windows for a while or open up your car after you get home for a while

to air it out.

I work in the drycleaning industry, and I recently lost a job because I refused

to spray that product on garments that they couldn't or didn't want to

dryclean, even when the label indicated " Dryclean only " .Not only does it stink,it

promotes deception..peace

I also hated the scent. Right after Febreeze hit the market, one of my boys got

sick in the car. Despite repeated cleanings, the odor lingered so I tried

Febreeze thinking it would simply neutralize the odor. YUCK! My car smelled

like rotting lettuce for months and made me so nauseous. Repeated cleanings

didn't remove that odor either. Now, I use either Ozium (available in the

automobile air freshener aisle) or a spray I make from Downy and water. Ozium

is great for removing odors - especially smoke and dead animal smells (we had

mice one winter)- but does have a strong scent of its own.

This is just one of the chemicals I can't tolerate. At this moment, they're

trying to do me in at the office with one of those plug in air " fresheners " . My

idea of freshening the air is to open a window!

Omg I can't stand those plug in things either, my DX wants to burn oils and

those kill me too, he must have 20 canisters of Carpet Fresh in the garage.

Why? I have tile lol

I can't tolerate many chemicals at all. My husband loves Windex and I just

can't handle it. My kids get so aggravated at me because I get really bad

headaches when they spray Glade or any of the others, for me Febreze is just as

bad as the rest.

O I hate that stuff; it gives me a terrible headache and my nose runs off my

face. All those air " fresheners " & cleaners do. At the store we call that

aisle the stinky aisle and DH has go fetch anything we need from there but the

other day I had a nice experience. I was waiting in the natural foods section

for the nice lady to bring me a case of soy milk when I noticed I'd been

standing by the cleaners for 10 mins without any nose running or anything. They

actually smelled good -- like real lemons and rosemary & other fresh scents.

They were a Mrs Meyer's brand - pretty expensive but I will try them. Does

anyone on here use them? Are they effective? We got the toilet bowl cleaner &

it works well.

The air freshener in the bathroom at work has an acetone base -- how healthy can

that be?

Peace,

Diane

Mrs. Meyer's? I think I " ve seen that somewhere before, have to check it out.

I try to avoid smelly because I have birds and their respiratory systems are

so much more delicate than ours. (But I have to have a little bit of bleach

in the bathroom, it just smells cleaner to me! I air it out well)

I use Method (Target has it) " naked " I think is the scent -- it really has

no smell at all, and I have a pretty good sense of smell. The Method

cucumber scent isn't too bad. Method is not tested on animals.

Nice too hear the recommendation on Method, Audrey; my fred meyer has that too &

it costs less than the Mrs Meyer's line. Mrs. Meyer's is not tested on animals

either so that's a good thing.

I think it's $2.99 a bottle at Target. I use the dish soap, glass cleaner,

and all-purpose cleaner. I have the wood wipes but have not tried them yet,

they're supposed to be almond-scented. I don't use anything but vinegar and

water or a particular brand of cleaner made for birds on my bird cages, but

I use the other stuff in the same house.
