Anyway, Carl and I love tomato sandwiches when the tomatoes are grown in dirt and ripened by the sun, not picked green and ripened by chemicals, run through another chemical bath and stored who knows how long. (Chemicals are fine in their place, just their place isn't my gut.) So, BLT. Toast whole wheat bread, spread with mayo, Miracle Whip or Vegenaise. Top with lettuce, sliced tomato, salt and pepper, then sprinkle with Bacon(less) bits. (I use a lot of TVP here.) The baconnaise is good but Carl and I still prefer Miracle Whip. I did BLT's this past weekend using it and sprinkling bacon flavored TVP bits onto the tomatoes and we really enjoyed the sandwich. Not sure how much we'd like it plain, without crunch, since the crunch was a big draw for both of us when we ate bacon a long time ago.
