Guest guest
I have a Vita-Mix. It grinds grains great. They have a dry container for blending grains in, but the wet container will work fine. It will scratch the container though, which is just fine, if you don't care. That is why some folks will buy the dry container, which has a slightly different blade and keep it just for using with dry ingredients, like grains. It is a fantastic kitchen appliance. We use ours all the time! Enjoy, Judy - CR Wednesday, July 08, 2009 12:06 PM Blendtec vs Vitamix Anyone used either of these blenders and have an opinion to share? From what I've gathered they are both superb at blending for smoothies, soups, frozen items, etc... so what I'm most interested in is how they perform when grinding grains. I want to be able to grind brown rice and other grains into flours once in awhile for baking. Cyndy in OR
Guest guest
I have a Vita-mix and I initially used it to grind grains, but I bought a grain mill a few months ago. Although it does a fairly good job, I was really afraid I was going to blow the motor. I would use it if I didn't have a grain mill, but not for a long period of time. It's probably okay if you don't grind a whole lot of grain at a time. The other thing I found was that the blades got a little clogged, so I had to scrape the flour from the bottom. It was a minor inconvenience, though. Other than that, I love my VM. It's great, and probably one of the most used appliances I have. I've had mine for about 10 years and it's still going strong. I use it almost daily. It is the best for pureeing soups. On Wed, Jul 8, 2009 at 1:06 PM, CR <aceeross wrote: > > > Anyone used either of these blenders and have an opinion to share? Guest guest
I have a blendtec. I love it. You can easily judge the character of a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him. -James D. Guest guest
I have not used the Vita mix, so I have nothing to compare it to. However .. I have a Kitchen Aide and also have a Blend Tec.. My Blendtec I got as a Christmas gift from a very good friend. I got it( the Blend tec) brand new about six years ago. It does not crush up ice like it said it did, and tends to over heat when making bread dough. However.. due to recent health issues I am no longer making any flour recipes. Guest guest
I've had a Blendtec since the end of last year and love it, but I haven't tried using it to grind grains. For what it's worth, when I asked the same question a couple of years back, I think the consensus was that the Vitamix did better with grains, but neither one really produced the kind of consistently fine flours that were great for baking. Hope this helps! Peace, Mo > Anyone used either of these blenders and have an opinion to share?
