Guest guest
Good deal on the rice cooker! If you use Japanese rice (short grain sticky rice) you can use leftover rice for onigiri (rice balls). They don't have to be Japanese or even Oriental. I've done plenty with Tex-Mex seasonings and even a Hawaiian flavor with pineapple in the middle. Yum.....I wonder if it's time for lunch yet. Guest guest
No, I don't rinse my rice, especially when doing sticky rice. Jeanne in GA
Guest guest
I do, because I have been told that rice can be pretty dirty, so I do it for hygiene purposes. I use a colander after I measure the amount. , Willa <willabrooksen wrote: > > do you all rinse your rice first ? > thanks brooke > > > > > ________________________________ > Debbie Gill <noodlesurus > > Wednesday, July 29, 2009 12:37:02 PM > Re: Stainless Steel Rice Cooker > > > A few months back I bought a rice cooker/ steamer and I am soo in love with it! Guest guest
I have a nice mesh strainer. I have seen things ij my rice that look like they don't belong in there so I always rinse plus I saw a special on some of the warehouses and how rice is packaged in India. I feel better knowing it's rinsed. The bag says you don't have to rinse sticky Cal Rose short grain rice but I don't like that powdery talc on the rice. Donna Just like my daddy used to say.He used to say soulshine,Its better than sunshine,Its better than moonshine,Damn sure better than rain. Guest guest
Try Kokuho extra fancy rice. It doesn't have any talc or glucose on it, nothing extra and no extra baggage (or is that buggage?) I usually buy it online from a website with a wild name - AsiaMex, which I find appropriate since those are two cooking styles I like mixing up. (Not to mention I completely trust them and have had very good experience with everything from their site.) For sticky rice I get Nishiki white rice.
