Guest guest
Sounds like it would be great with a little swiss cheese, too... mmm... What kind of canned sausages do you use? I was thinking Boca's brats would be good with this. Audrey S. Guest guest
About sausages/ " dogs " : Veggie Patch Jalapeno-Cheddar Dogs-- Funny you should mention this! I JUST this past week discovered the " Veggie Patch Jalapeno-Cheddar Dogs " from our Super Wal-Mart! I tried them and liked them, although they did seem a little too peppery, and I LIKE a lot of hot spicy foods. Yesterday, my DH discovered a great sourdough pancake recipe and made up a batch, using a sourdough starter that I've recently worked up. They were AWESOME! To complement the pancakes, I fried a batch of " patty " sausage ( " Gimme Lean " veg bulk sausage) that I mixed with chopped up Veggie Patch Jalapeno-Cheddar Dogs. The Gimme Lean sausage cooled down the J-C Dogs just a little and I also added a few seasonings of my own in addition. The patties tasted GREAT and went so well with the pancakes and maple syrup we had over them. That is a meal I want to repeat often in the future! I would recommend these sausages; they are spicy, however--for the taste of an " average " sausage, I might say the Boca brand brats or Italian sausage is also good. Good wishes to all! I was messing around online and found this blog -- my favorite part is at the end of this page, where the writer talks about quick dinner ideas. http://sproutedbeans.wordpress.com/category/favorite-recipes/ By the way, the Veggie Patch Jalapeno cheddar dogs are pretty darn good -- I've only ever seen them at Wal-mart, in the refrigerated section by the tofu. Guest guest
They were just the right amount of spice for me -- but I can eat one (maybe two) and then I have to freeze the rest of the package! I like them with a little mustard or sweet pickle relish to cool them down. Your sourdough pancakes sound great! Audrey S.
