Guest guest
Hi, That's interesting...I don't know if this is true for other people, but I've found that stuff with " corn products " (corn syrup, oil, HFCS, corn syrup " solids " and so on---UNLESS IT'S ORGANIC-- gives me weird and not always predictable reactions, some of which are like you described. (I wondered for YEARS why, after eating certain foods I'd have a LOT of trouble sleeping--weird aches and odd sensations that kept me from resting, feeling " wired " , just as you described. I've also had the " restless legs " thing going--feels like BUGS are inside your legs and not possible at all to relax! Since finding that, most of the time, vegetarian eating DOES lessen these weird experiences, I have stayed mostly, but not always, with that kind of dietary choice. It's not been foolproof, however. There are " vegetarian " foods (mostly are the meat-substitute foods) which contain non-organic corn products and sometimes I get those reactions (less often) from non-organic soy foods. Ya gotta figure, for your case it probably was something in the burgers or the beef. They grow corn with TONS of pesticides on it and feed lots of antibiotics and hormones to the cattle along with that pesticide-laden corn. It's gotta have an effect on what's in the animal's body...and consuming the animal, you consume the same things it was fed. One more reason to NOT eat the meat, IMHO. I do sleep better now. I attribute mainly to eating vegetarian foods and avoiding meat in the diet. Some people like you probably are more sensitive to additives and what's in the foods...Thank you for sharing your experience. It's helped me understand a few questions I've had from my food experiences. Something like an " Aha! " moment. Thanks, and I am so glad you are a survivor of ovarian cancer! That is wonderful! I pray you will have many more healthy and happy years ahead of you! Blessings! --Laura B., in Illinois PS: That soda may have had caffiene...and some folks are very sensitive to that. It also (unless it was " diet " ) probably had a ton of " high fructose corn syrup " to sweeten it. Nasty stuff! Diet sweeteners aren't supposed to be healthy, but the corn syrup that sweetens most " regular " soft drinks is, IMHO, NOT a good thing to be consuming on a regular basis! It would have " wired " me up just to drink the soda, let alone the burger! :-> However, after some years of this I was curious to have a quarter pounder with a soda. OMG. I was wired. And my breasts hurt (I guess it was the hormones in the meat). I had a hard time sleeping that night.
