Welcome Scott! (my hubby is Scott too!) Check out the recipes in the

files...here's the link to the " not-pig " section where there are lots of sausage

recipes (I like it too!).

I've made this and it's pretty good! Plus you can make a bunch if you like it

and freeze it to use another time.

Tempeh Sausage Crumbles

Submitted by Isa

prep time: 2 minutes | cooking time: 25-30 minutes | makes about 2 cups

This is delicious over pasta with marinara sace or as a pizza topping. It's also

good as a burrito filling or served for breakfast alongside scrambled tofu.

Ingredients

8 oz package tempeh

1 tablespoon fennel seed

1 teaspoon dried basil

1 teaspoon dried margoram or oregano

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes

1/2 teaspoon dried sage

2 teaspoons garlic, minced

2 tablespoons tamari or soy sauce

1 tablespoon olive oil

juice of 1/2 a lemon

Directions

In a saute pan, crumble the tempeh and add enough water to almost cover it. Over

high heat, steam the tempeh until most of the water is absorbed, about 15

minutes. Drain the remaining water and add the rest of the ingredients and cook

over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until lightly browned, about 10

minutes.

Cheese is hard for me to cut back on as well! What is " the p90x routine " ?

Some people are really good at planning a menu for the entire week, but I'm not

one of them! There's just me, hubby and 16 yo daughter and we're not all veg,

but trying to eat healthier as well and they will try some of the things I make

at least!

cholesterol and fat have gotten the best of me. I've started dong the p90x

routine (week 5) and I'm really trying to eat correctly.

make something vegetarian taste like sausage.

I'll need to go to the store and get some fennel seeds, and then I can try the

bean sausages.

What's TVP? Would it be like crumbled tofu or seitan?

I've been making a list of all the recipes I currently use (getting quite the

list) and I'm wondering how many of them I can convert. I'm finding I need a

chicken substitute.

Our pastor's son got me started on this video set. Here's a link.

You can get them for about $50 on e-bay, I wouldn't spend more (just due to cost

effectiveness). If you're able to stick with the program, it's GREAT. I find

it to be cheaper than a gym membership, and I'm more likely to use the disks.

Starts with stretching, and then either weight training or cardio. It's well

worth it.

Thanks for the recipe, I'll have to find some tempeh or try and make my own.

Well, I baked some vegeroni, steamed some Italian sausages and baked some ribz

yesterday.

Not sure if that link will work, but I tried to make it public on facebook.

Wife liked the pepperoni on pizza last night. I loved the Italian sausages.

Think I'll try a " hot dog " for the kids when I get back from Chicago (got a

wedding to go to).

Not sure about the ribs, they might not be quite the right texture for me.

Though I only had one and I put it on the George.

Thanks for the help.

One question, my wife mentioned that there are many people that must eat a

gluten free diet. Has there been any thought into what eating lots of gluten

would do to our bodies? What causes the gluten sensitivity?
