perhaps have everyone bring a recipe card with their recipe written out.

display the card then you'll have the recipe as a keepsake/scrapbook item

showing what was served on the special day.

Thanks for the insights and I have passed on the congrats to Millie.

I think asking for ingredients is a really great idea especially because of

sensitivities.  I think putting cards out with each dish is excellent I had not

thought of it but it makes sense!

We lost a congregation member three years ago to a food reaction at a party.

She had a nut allergy and she ate a desert made with some kind of nut

paste. She was only 18. I can't help but thinking that having a simple

card by the tray could have saved her life.

I'm sending an email out to all the guest who have RSVP'd already letting them

know that we are going to need that info before we can serve their dish.. Thank

you.

(BTW- The smell of meat cooking makes me sick)

I like this idea - being fatally allergic to nuts I tend not to be able to go to

" pot luck " suppers, this way you know everyone is safe (whatever their dietary

needs) AND as you say you have a wonderful memento of the day as well! If you

get a photo of everyone as they arrive you could put that on the same page as

the recipe as well :-)

Oh, how awful about your congregation member. That's an even better reason

to make sure dishes are labeled.

Try to find some placecard holders at a party supply store. If you get

holders that are pretty simple, you can use them at other events, too. Your

church may be interested in using them if you have potlucks at your church,

too.
