Guest guest
I learned about McKay's chicken-type seasoning from Judy, and finally used it last night -- it was wonderful! I put it in a chicken casserole recipe that I adapted to make it vegetarian. I think I " ve posted the recipe before, it's Aunt Kathy's Hot Chicken Salad. I mixed the McKay's into the rice before baking it, and it was great! Not too salty, either, which is a big problem I have with most broth and boullion cubes. I did use Worthington Fri-Chik in my casserole this time, and when I got a mouthful of Fri-Chik, I felt like it was a little too strong for this particular casserole. I'll go back to using Quorn next time. But I know Judy has lots of recipes for Fri-Chik, so I'm going to check those out. Audrey S. Guest guest
I'm glad you are enjoying this seasoning. It is one of my most favorites for using in many recipes. Look thru the casseroles recipes and in the substitutes for meat - " not chicken " sub folder and you'll see quite a few of my recipes using Fri-chik. Just love that stuff and can eat it straight out of the can. Guest guest
And the McKay's is so reasonably priced -- and I did look at the sodium in it -- 460mg per serving vs. 800mg per serving in " Not-Chik'n boullion cubes " and 830mg in Knorr Vegetarian Vegetable boullion. That right there makes it worth it! I used it to make egg drop soup today for lunch -- I " m home sick with strep throat and only soup sounded good. Audrey S.
