Guest guest Posted August 9, 2009 Report Share Posted August 9, 2009 A guy on Freecycle gave me a bit over 100 pounds of assorted incredible books and things, among with was an incredible vegan cookbook. It has wonderful vegan recipes (not lacto-ovo), including how to make gluten steaks, seitan and many other wonderful dishes, including how to make a poultry tasting tofu turkey. I've been sitting here going " Oh wow, oh man, oh that sounds good " to the point that Carl got tired of hearing me and said to " Go make it then. " Ready for the title of the book - Veggie Works Vegan Cookbook by Marc Rasmussen. It is astounding. I'm off to make some applesauce donuts. Yep, it's in the book and yes, I'm going to post his recipe for gluten steaks, but not till tomorrow. Wal Mart has vital wheat gluten in the flour aisle but only in little boxes. You'll need to either order online (I like Walton Feeds and AAOOB) or if you're fortunate enough to have a health store/vegetarian store, get some. Gosh, this is a great book.
