Guest guest
Your local library might have it as well; ours did and I put it on hold...looking forward to seeing it. Lynna
Guest guest
when I saw this movie I have to admit I was what mcdonalds called a heavy user, we ate fast food more than 3 times a week. I have lost about 30 lbs. without even really trying, and just cutting out as much junk food (it is a HARD habit to break ~ especially the sodas) I drink only one or two sodas a week now unless I buy them, then I'll drink more but even then my body has gotten used to better foods so I'm more aware of the junk when it goes in and am more aware of what normal is supposed to feel like. (I am morbidly obese and have a few of the issues he talks about in the movie.) I really had no idea. I know this isn't a diet group, I really don't want to be on one. I just want to add healhier and healthier habits into our lives and change. I have been looking for a group like this one just recipes and ideas, the decisions on what to do with it is up to me. I grew up eating fruit and veggies as snacks all the time, cookies and such were rare unless mom made them. For a few years as a teen I was actually a vegetarian almost a vegan, but didn't have the nerve to take it that far. I felt great during that time, but eventually caved to the pressure of my friends when we went out to eat. I'm seeing more and more of my family becoming vegetarians now and it's wonderful. I don't know if I will ever go completely back, but I want that love for fruits and veggies for my kids, and I want the energy I had back then! LOL So here I am mouth watering at all the wonderful recipes I can't wait to try. (First place I hit was the recipe files! LOL) I am willing to try new foods (always have been) so the tofu types of products I look forward to tasting. Don't plan on telling the kids (or the meat and potatoes hubby) what it is until after they try it. lol I already enjoy using portabellas as hamburgers pretty much. (Those are some YUMMY mushrooms!) The only thing I have a hard time wrapping my brain around is the veggie cheese. lol I had some once that was awful, so I'm hesitant to try it again, but I'm aware it could have just been the brand. I am wanting to try adzuki beans (?). I recently tried edemame (?) and loved it, which surprised me as I don't usually like those types of veggies cold. LOL I wrote a book! sorry bout that, but I have just had so much fun on this group with all the recipes. Now I just wish I had my juicer back! (Dog chewed through the cord the other day when my kids unplugged it to plug in a DS charger.) Pax, ~Tee
Guest guest
I absolutely loved this movie! I can't believe I waited so long to watch it. I haven't eaten fast food in almost 20 years, but work with people who do - or did. Now that they work with me, they don't (at least not often). I knew how bad it was, but like the doctor's that followed him throughout the month, never anticipated the immediate havoc it could wreak! I found it on Netflix and have recommended it to all my clients. Barbra - Donnalilacflower Wednesday, January 28, 2009 7:16 PM Super Size dvd What's great about this movie is, he didn't set out to bash McDonald's he just set out to tell the truth by risking his life with very bad health from eating this every single day, 3 times a day. It's an amazing documentary. It's time I pass it along and if this member wants to pass it to friends or reoffer it that's fine too just so it gets watched by more and more people. Since watching it I have added much more organic foods into our diet especially veggies and fruits. My kids and I love organic milk, my hubby absolutely loves it and goes through it quickly. It really did educate me about so much, that now when I do eat something from a fast food place or even a prepackaged snack I really have to think about it. I have had a few unexpected benefits, like loosing weight, less sick, and feel more energetic. I can certainly tell when I haven't been eating well, so it happens less and less often. Excellent movie, even my 9 year old enjoyed it. LOL He won't eat the fries either. ~Tee - Donnalilacflower GROUP Wednesday, January 28, 2009 6:01 PM [vegetarian_ group] Taken Super Size dvd Thanks everyone ------------ --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- - Checked by AVG - http://www.avg. com Version: 8.0.176 / Virus Database: 270.10.15/1921 - Release 1/28/2009 6:37 AM
Guest guest
I've never seen the movie, but I prefer to eat what I make myself now -- eating less fried things and oil makes me not want it as much, and then if I eat very much my stomach feels it. I hear you on the dog chewing your cord I have a cat who is an occasional cord-chewer, and a parrot who has ruined a curling iron and two stereo cords (I finally got smart and supervise her better!) Guest guest
Hi Everyone, This is the movie that helped me get on track and avoid harmful foods. I highly recommend it. If anyone wants to see it, it is on Netflix where you can watch it instantly. (at least it was when I saw it a few months ago) Christy
