Guest guest
Someone here, Mike I think, asked if anyone had a tried and true BBQ sauce recipe. Well, here is one I love. I know most Worcestershire sauce is not vegetarian, but there are a few out there [wizard brand, and I buy Kroger brand]. You could replace it with the homemade Worcestershire sauce recipe in the files here if you can't find anchovy-free in stores near you. Or just substitute some Bragg's liquid aminos or soy sauce or tamari... it is just a small tablespoon so not a huge deal. Hope you like this recipe if and when you try it. It is a summer must have for me. I enjoy dipping veggie dogs in it, brushing it on veggie burgers, and on tofu, too. Sweet 'N' Spicy BBQ Sauce 1 cup packed brown sugar 1 cup ketchup 1/2 cup water 1/2 cup cider vinegar 1/2 cup finely minced onion 1/2 can (8 oz) tomato sauce 1/2 cup corn syrup 1/2 cup molasses 1/2 can (6 oz) tomato paste 1 Tbs vegetarian Worcestershire sauce 2 tsp garlic-pepper blend 2 tsp liquid smoke 2 tsp Dijon mustard ( or spicy brown) 1/2 tsp onion salt 1/2 tsp celery salt In a large saucepan, combine all ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 15 minutes or until flavors are blended. Remove from heat; cool. Yield: 1 quart ~ PT ~ The wind blows hard among the pines Toward the beginning Of an endless past.
