Guest guest
Hey Judy....... Horse manure.......ahhhhh-haaaaa....so THAT is the secret fertilizer we need to be using!! Will have to see about getting some of that. As far as I know, Rabbit-eye blueberries are the only kind that grow down here in east Texas. I can remember in about 1981, when the first blueberry farm in east Texas was planted....it was FinCastle Blueberries outside of Athens, Texas. It was ALL the talk of Athens to think that we would actually have REAL blueberries growing in east Texas. Now there are blueberry farms all over east Texas. The fellow we got these plants from said that once they take a hold and gain some maturity on them, we should be getting about 18 lbs. per plant! How wonderful!! That will be nice. One of my favorite things to do when we go pick blueberries is to EAT blueberries. Most of the farms have a pick and eat as many as you want while you fill your bucket!! So good. And, yes, at the store around here they are about $3.50 for 8 ounces!!! Have fun with your blueberries!! Nancy
