Guest guest
Hi Donna and Andrea, I think it is important that vegetarians don't become judgmental or self-righteous towards people who do not share their philosophy of life. It is a basic human truth that not everything is for everybody, and that includes being a vegetarian or vegan. Let us not get too idealistic about our approach to life that we end up alienating other people. Best wishes, Dario Western - <thelilacflower " Vegetarian Group " Thursday, January 15, 2009 4:32 AM Re: Andrea your take on meat eaters That is a stereo typical rey. Guest guest
Interesting theories. I am the only vegetarian that I know, my family, friends, and even life partner all eat meat. I was living with my fiancee' who eats meat. One evening he informed me that he expected me to start cooking meat every evening for dinner. I was moved back into home by that evening. I too have 4 stray animals in my home.(3 cats and a bird) I also have a white standard poodle that my x husband didn't want. I do not eat for my love of animals, it has nothing to do with health reasons. I do not judge people who eat meat, I just can't do it. Iam not trying to sound like a saint but lot of my friens have noticed these behavioural changes.this is just an information i would like to share with all not change anybody's preferences. vidhya , thelilacflower@ ... wrote: > > That is a stereo typical rey. First it should be noted that in one of my last posts I strongly encouraged respect and tolerance for those who do not share my beliefs. I am not a rebel vegetarian, I believe that everyone must choose the path they will follow and be responsible for the choices they make- good or bad. And yes, you will find exceptions to any and every observation, that is part of the joy of being human. As a doctor of Natural Medicine, it has been my OBSERVATION, both inside my practice and with research projects that I have worked on both in Eastern and Western modalities of healing, that the saying " you are what you eat " can be manifested in many different ways, one of those being to amplify or pacify certain personality traits. This is understood to a greater degree in Ayurvedic and Traditional Chinese Healing. My saying that I have observed more aggression in meat eaters, is simply that- my observation. I have seen the change in myself, my patients and friends that there seems to be a lessening of aggression when meat is eliminated from the diet. That does not mean that we are all happy rainbow chasing animal lovers or that all meat eaters are violent, savages. People are people, their core evil or good is still going to be the same, but what we feed our minds, bodies and spirits does influence how our core personalities will manifest themselves. Guest guest
I was really offended by some vegetarians and vegans I knew in college (before I went vegetarian). They made faces at what I ate, rude comments, etc. My aunt has been vegetarian for probably 15 years, and while the rest of the family thought she was nuts, she just cheerfully said that she would eat what she wanted and didn't care what anybody else ate. Best policy! I invite my neighbor, (a single girl who has just moved to the area and knows nobody), over for supper about once a week, and while she knows I'm a vegetarian, she's never commented, and always seems to enjoy the food. I have used meat substitutes, but I think she'd eat almost anything! I just don't make an issue of it. Audrey S.
