Guest guest
I have never cooked with them (other than Brussels sprouts which I love), but one of my favorite sandwiches is carrot slaw with raisins, topped with sprouts with sunflower seed kernels sprinkled on top of that, all on toasted whole wheat bread. I am looking forward to reading how other folk use sprouts. Jeanne in GA
Guest guest
I'll take one of those!!! I use sprouts in almost any sandwich. It gives it a nice, clean crunch. Guest guest
I love sprouts! I am now back to sprouting 1X/week and I want to get up to 3 crops/week. I just eat them raw. Plain. In salad. Or as a salad. Or sandwiches. anGELA Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile " M.C. " <dotsandashes Fri, 13 Feb 2009 05:38:48 SPROUTS Do any of you peps use sprouts in recipes? Guest guest
Count me in as one of these sprout fans!! I too use sprouts for sandwiches, especially crunchy peanutbutter with alfalfa sprouts on whole wheat pita. . .Mmmmmm! Have never cooked with it, but I do like to purchase sprouted wheat bread. Now after I just wrote that, I'm trying to decide if that means they make the bread with sprouts or what? Hmmm. Sprouts are good in stir fry, such as bean sprouts. ~Stephie , " M.C. I did some for my cockatiels and they do not touch them.. But I don't want to eat bird seed sprouts. MM - mrs.fabulous I love sprouts! Guest guest
Kidney beans sprouts should *NOT* be eaten but there is a long list of seeds that are easy to sprout and safe to eat. Most people only sprout Alfalfa,Radish and Mung Beans but you can sprout Soy Beans and many others. The list is quite long and you don't need a fancy sprouting container. Just a glass jar will work and a piece of cheese cloth to cover it. I like to have sprouts in the Winter months when I no longer have my fresh garden greens. NOTE: Remember to *never* sprout regular store bought seeds unless they are organic or labeled " safe for sprouting " .
