Spinach, definitely, for iron. I LOVE raw spinach -- I prefer my salads to

be at least 1/2 baby spinach.

I like cream of wheat, can I ask a dumb question?

What's hemp butter?

This is one of my favorite iron building recipes, my Great Grandmother used to

make it every fall and it was always on hand:

1/4 cup yellow dock root (fresh or dried)

1/4 cup nettle (fresh or dried)

1/8 cup dandelion root (fresh or dried)

1 quart of apple cider vinegar (I love Braggs)

(can also use red or white wine vinegar)

Add herbs to glass jar and completely submerge in vinegar. Put a lid on the jar

and shake.  Set it aside for a week shaking periodically.

After a week to ten days strain out the herbs and press them well to extract as

much liquid as possible.

Store the vinegar in a clean glass container and use it in salads, on vegetables

or when doing any other cooking. Can be stored unrefrigerated for a year or

more.

I love to lightly steam green beans and toss them in a vinegarette made with

this, garlic and olive oil.

My mom still takes two teaspoons daily as her morning pick- me-up. We used to

have to take it with black strap molasses in some warm water in the morning

before school (How I dreamed of Tang!)

Oddly enough, I have seen more anemia in non-veg than I have in balanced

vegetarians over the years so just remember that variety is not only the spice

of life but the key to enjoying it.
