HA!  I had the same experience. I bought a little slow cooker and I put 1/2 cup

of quinoa, 1 cup water and turned it on overnight.  I opened it up for breakfast

and it was crusty on the edges and mushy in the middle. I did a package of pinto

beans in my regular sized crock pot and I added water an inch above the beans,

cut up onions and a can of tomatoes - and that actually turned out pretty good.

I'll look in the crock pot file, too.

Question Help! Slow cooker (Crockpot) breakfast

guidance

After all the messages on cooking breakfast in a slow cooker, I bought

a small slow cooker to try making breakfast. I have tried twice -- the

first was inedible, the second was better but not that good. Today I

searched the files for slow cooker (Crockpot) breakfast recipes and

found a few, which I plan to try. In the meantime, do any of you have

recommendations or guidance on how to prepare breakfast (in particular,

oatmeal or other grains) in a slow cooker?

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

I was just reading an article in the Christian Science Monitor about cooking

cereal in a slow cooker over night and they suggested plugging the crockpot in

an electric timer and setting it for 4 hours instead of letting it run all night

for 8 hours - makes a difference and I'm going to try this.

My crockpot has a timer on it.  When the time is up, it clicks into the Keep

Warm temp., which is still pretty hot.  I try to sleep 9-10 hours on the

weekends, and I have a " bad-luck " crockpot, so everything I make in there turns

crispy.  My hubby groans when he sees it out! LOL

make sure to have plenty of water since it absorbs>

Mine is just right when I wake up. I'm not good at measuring it so I

don't have exact measurements.
