Guest guest
Has anyone tried the Salad Shooter? Do you like it? (This thing: http://www.saladshooter.com/productinfo.html) I've never actually seen one in operation (outside of youtube), but my partner and I go through a ton of salad this time of year, and this is the second year in a row I've found myself wondering about it, so I'd be grateful for any experiences folks are willing to share. Guest guest
It's been a while since I've used mine. It works well, but does need some muscle to push the produce thru. I just use my Bonner V-shaped Mandolin and have a salad ready in no time at all. Also use a salad spinner to wash the chopped lettuce in and spin it dry in. This will prolong the life of a salad too. We go thru loads of salad here too. - Maureen Friday, June 19, 2009 2:24 PM Opinions on Salad Shooter?? Has anyone tried the Salad Shooter? Do you like it? Guest guest
I meant to add also, that since you have to hold it over a bowl, when you press down on the plunger to press the veggies thu, you have exert equal pressure upright with you other hand to counter balance and keep it pointed it into a bowl. Guest guest
Thanks, Judy! That's really good to know. It sounds like I should give mandolins another try. (We've only tried a cheap-o impulse-buy one.) I do the same thing with lettuce One of the growers here also suggested letting it soak for around 10 minutes in the first rinse (to rehydrate), which also seems to help it stay crisp longer. Thanks again! wwjd wrote: > It's been a while since I've used mine. It works well, but does need some muscle to push the produce thru.
