I once took a xanax for jet lag when I returned from Italy. I was attempting to heat up some soup & intended to lay down on the living room couch for a few minutes while it was cooking. Instead, I passed out cold. I awoke when a fireman shook me. The soup had cooked out & the smoke set off a smoke alarm in my house, which is very loud. My alarm company automatically calls the fire department when a smoke detector goes off. The fire engine was outside with all the sirens roaring. The firemen had banged on my front door & rang the bell several times. When nobody answered, the firemen removed the screens from the front windows to get into the house. They were astounded I had slept through all the racket. I told them I had taken a sleeping pill I'd never tried before. Needless to say, I don't take xanax anymore.
