Thanks, Helga. Yes, the neurological symptoms sound like they'd be worse

than anemia. I hope your health has improved. :)

I am not vegan, I've been an ovo-lacto vegetarian for about a year and a

half. Probably not a bad idea to take supplements, just in case.

Ok, thanks. Good to know they don't bother your stomach -- I don't really

like to take vitamins because they usually give me a bad aftertaste and a

little indigestion. :(

My doctor said to use a sublingual B-12 (place under the tongue to let it

dissolve).

I have to take B12 but it does not get into my blood stream if I take it in pill

form so I use the liquid form.  It works wonderfully that way, my levels went up

dramatically when I started taking it that way.

As I have a known B12-deficiency I take a supplement. B12 is

synthesized by bacteria, the only true source of B12 vitamins. There's

an informative article about B12 on Wikipedia,

http://en.wikipedia .org/wiki/ B12 for more info. I think it's important

to take a B12-supplement, especially if you are vegan, as it's not

easy to get the amount we need from food. I've been a vegetarian for

more than 20 years now and my B12-deficiency was discovered two years

ago. I've never been anemic but I got neurological symptoms and they

can be more difficult to reverse than an anemia and more difficult

(for doctors) to realize that it's a result of B12-deficiency.

Irene,

I take a B-Complex sublingual liquid by Spring Valley, it has all the B vitamins

and over the recommended dose my doctor told me to take in B-12.  It tastes good

too, just don't drip it on your clothes, it's a nice bright orange color and can

stain lol.

Re: B12?

Pam, which liquid B12 do you take? There are SO many vitamin products

now that it's way confusing trying to figure out which is best.

Many thanks,
