Guest guest
I detect a lot of frustration. Nothing comes easy. Practice makes perfect. If you have this " I give up, nothing comes out attitude " , it won't. Get back in the kitchen and start over with another recipe. Go through the files and find easy recipes, there are thousands of them. If you don't know what an ingredient is, ask us. I taught myself 101% how to cook, I have made diasters like you wouldn't believe but I was always determinded I could do it. Maybe you won't be the best cook, maybe you don't love to cook but you can do it and recipes do turnout. Donna baby I crack the whip! Barn's burnt down ....... now I can see the moon. Ok I will admit it is a new goal and that I have baked a little before but never cooked. I miscopied something when writing a black bean chili recipe and am guessing. I'll keep boiling the beans but it is apparant it won't turn out. The cheesecake didn't work. Ingredients in recipes look so overwhelming. Most have things I've never heard of or have heard of by reading them in recipes but never seen and have no idea what they really are. Did the rest of you grow up cooking? Or teach yourself? Guest guest
Don't worry, cooking is like riding a bicycle - for a while you fall off regularly, then, all of a sudden, you are cruising down the road with no problems. A lot of my early cooking attempts were failures, including one where I set fire to the kitchen, but I've kept on and so far have improved to the point where things are edible on a regular basis. You only have to really worry about your cooking when the local hazmat response team shows up while you are making something! :-) Keep on, things will get better, really... Ed With the Internet, the answer is out there - the problem now is to figure out what the question is....
Guest guest
Like the old saying goes, Try, try, and try again. As well as Practice makes Perfect. You're not going to get everything right on the first or second try. Even the greatest of chefs and cooks make mistakes or screw up at times. Hell I even remember one story that a home ec teacher I had years ago told us of a truly horrible screw up that one of her advanced classes made. They used salt instead of sugar when making the filling for an apple pie *shudders* Ever lesson, every attempt is a learning experience. Eventually you'll get there, it just takes a lot of time, work and effort. As well as frustration on the journey. Still you learn from each mistake and improve as you go on. As long as you don't end up poisoning yourself or your family it's all good. Dennis
