B12?

How do you get B12? From nutritional labels, I see no B12 in milk or eggs. I

know some soy milk and cereals are fortified with B12, and that you can also

take supplements. Anybody know where the B12 in fortified things comes from?

Animal source?

As I have a known B12-deficiency I take a supplement. B12 is

synthesized by bacteria, the only true source of B12 vitamins. There's

an informative article about B12 on Wikipedia,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B12 for more info. I think it's important

to take a B12-supplement, especially if you are vegan, as it's not

easy to get the amount we need from food. I've been a vegetarian for

more than 20 years now and my B12-deficiency was discovered two years

ago. I've never been anemic but I got neurological symptoms and they

can be more difficult to reverse than an anemia and more difficult

(for doctors) to realize that it's a result of B12-deficiency.

Pam, which liquid B12 do you take? There are SO many vitamin products

now that it's way confusing trying to figure out which is best.

Many thanks,

I use Red Star Nutritional Yeast, and it has B12 (133% daily value) and

other B vitamins. I don't think all Nutritional Yeast has B12, so

check the label.
