Audrey,

This sounds like a great recipe.  (Don't they call this something like

" carbonara "

when it's made with " bacon " and a creamy sauce?  I have not yet tried the fake

bacon food.  I'm a little nervous about the ingredients...but though I have

always

felt addicted to real bacon, I can't eat it anymore, as it seems to upset my

stomach

a little bit--heartburn, etc.  I miss it a lot, but don't like how I felt when I

ate it, so,

I gave it up.

Peace!

Laura's Pasta

6-8 slices Morningstar Farms fake bacon, cut up

4 oz fresh mushrooms, sliced

1/2 lb mostacciloi

3/4 c half and half

1/3 c butter or margarine

2 tsp parsley flakes

1/2 tsp salt

1 tsp minced garlic or garlic powder

6-8 drops tabasco (optional)

1/3 c grated parmesan cheese

1/4 c sliced green onions

Prepare mostaccioli according to package directions; drain. Cook fake bacon..

Saute mushrooms in 1 tbsp butter. In saucepan, combine half and half,

remaining butter, parsley, salt, garlic and tabasco. Heat just until butter

melts. Combine bacon, mushrooms, pasta, half and half mixture, and parmesan

cheese - toss to coat. Garnish with green onions. Serves 4.

I honestly don't know what it's supposed to be called -- I'm not big on

Italian food (Mexican is my favorite!) and I think we got this recipe off

the back of a package of pasta about 20 years ago!

I would guess that your stomach problem with bacon might be the grease? The

fake bacon doesn't have that, so I hope it doesn't bother you! I think it

smells pretty similar to bacon, and although it will cook up with a nice

crunch like the real thing, it doesn't have the fat pockets in it. I like

it, especially on sandwiches.
