Guest guest
Audrey, This sounds like a great recipe. (Don't they call this something like " carbonara " when it's made with " bacon " and a creamy sauce? I have not yet tried the fake bacon food. I'm a little nervous about the ingredients...but though I have always felt addicted to real bacon, I can't eat it anymore, as it seems to upset my stomach a little bit--heartburn, etc. I miss it a lot, but don't like how I felt when I ate it, so, I gave it up. Peace! --Laura B., in Illinois Laura's Pasta 6-8 slices Morningstar Farms fake bacon, cut up 4 oz fresh mushrooms, sliced 1/2 lb mostacciloi 3/4 c half and half 1/3 c butter or margarine 2 tsp parsley flakes 1/2 tsp salt 1 tsp minced garlic or garlic powder 6-8 drops tabasco (optional) 1/3 c grated parmesan cheese 1/4 c sliced green onions Prepare mostaccioli according to package directions; drain. Guest guest
I honestly don't know what it's supposed to be called -- I'm not big on Italian food (Mexican is my favorite!) and I think we got this recipe off the back of a package of pasta about 20 years ago! I would guess that your stomach problem with bacon might be the grease? The fake bacon doesn't have that, so I hope it doesn't bother you! I think it smells pretty similar to bacon, and although it will cook up with a nice crunch like the real thing, it doesn't have the fat pockets in it. I like it, especially on sandwiches. Audrey S.
