Guest guest
Hi everyone. I am so happy to find you guys. My family and I are coming back to vegetarianism after a 9 year hiatus. Why the hiatus you ask? Well, when I was pregnant with my daughter I was told by my doctors I had to eat meat again. I didn't think to question them as I had such a hard time conceiving, I just assumed they knew something I didn't. I had a miserable pregnancy because I didn't want to eat it let alone touch it so I threw up the majority of my pregnancy. We were vegan at the time. We had always said that if our daughter expressed interest in a vegetarian lifestyle we would go back in a heartbeat. It was obvious when she was a toddler that meat was going to be part of her lifestyle. We struggled with what to do because we preferred vegetarianism but felt once again that to be proper parents she need to eat meat to grow properly. We were ill-informed but wanted to do the best we could for our daughter. She was teeny tiny anyway, tall but thin (wearing 2T clothes at 4 years old). I am very happy she came to the decision on her own. We are more informed now of course and can properly manage our diet and make sure we are getting what we need. I'm quite excited to be on the loop and glean some further insight as well as some yummy recipes and ideas. The one place I know I lack is in packing lunches. I am trying to think outside the box but would love any ideas you have. My dd saw the sliced tofurkey in the cooler case at our local health food store and thought she wanted to give that a go. So at least I have that and pb and j until I can come up with more lunch box ideas. Melissa Blount
