Guest guest
Gary: I second this email and testify to it!!! I have been mostly vegetarian (a little bit of chicken, turkey, or fish), leaning more and more to a total vegetarian diet. I was overweight, high cholesterol, Triglycerides and high blood pressure and well on my way to taking Cholesterol meds. I just had a check up and my doctor is so proud of me!! I've lost 30+ lbs, my blood pressure is that of a 'teenager' (to quote my doctor) and at one point he told me that I would be for certain on cholesterol meds. Now, he's requiring me to get blood work before he does it. He says I may not even need the meds. We'll see after the blood work! I feel great; I look better and I feel cleaner!!! I had a slip recently and had some beef meatballs. My gut didn't think a lot of it and I had no more! Eating vegetarian is, as stated below, much cheaper and if you can grow some of your own food, that's even better! If not, veggies can be bought cheap, especially as the growing season progresses. The only thing you need is the motivation to get up and cook all of your own food, using no salt and lots of seasonings. Somedays I think I'd really like to have some fast food rather than getting up and cooking something, but then I remember how things were and how they are now! When you start to see progress in weight loss and realize that you actually do feel better, it's easier and easier to continue down the path. It's a whole new way of life and it takes determination, but the change to a plant-based diet will help to improve your health immensely! Don't forget to exercise and you'll feel more and more like exercising once the weight stops dropping off. Congratulations on taking the first step. When you see the changes, you'll be glad you started down this path.
