Guest guest
I'm thinking the candy bar pieces were too big. Send in the recipe for us to see. Donna Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile " Audrey Snyder " <AudeeBird Fri, 12 Dec 2008 07:48:08 Cookie problems I'm really interested in the lemon cookie recipe somebody sent (can't remember who!) -- but I thought I'd better make something chocolate for these folks at work. Found a recipe for candy bar cookies that sounded great! They tasted great, too -- I always have to eat half of a hot cookie right off the pan, I'm so bad! BUT, the candy bar pieces sank to the bottom of the cookie and melted, leaving holes in the bottoms of the cookies! I'm thinking next time I don't actually put the candy bar pieces IN the cookies, but on top -- and maybe make a thicker batter so they don't fall through to the bottom... Any suggestions? Thanks! Guest guest
Awww.. of course I left it at home! I think it was... 1 stick butter (maybe use margarine next time so they won't get so thin? they were thin cookies) 1 1/4 c flour 1/2 (or maybe it was 1/3?) c sugar 1 1/2 tsp baking soda 1 egg 1 tsp vanilla 1 cup chopped candy bar 325 F, 8 min (mine took way longer than 8 minutes) I used a King Size Snickers, and cut it long-ways and then in 1/4 " pieces from there. Too big? Thanks! Audrey S. Guest guest
I would have used a regular sized candy bar. Snickers are heavy, they have peanuts in them. You should partially freeze the candy bar and dut into small bits. Try the recipe again and I have a feeling it will come put for you. Try a Mars bar without the peanuts. Read the label make sure it's vegetarian. Some candy has gelatin. Guest guest
I think you're right, freezing it would help. I'll try a Milky Way. I'm going to try it with a Heath bar sometime, too. I think that would be a lot easier, less sticky. On the subject of candy, does Twix still have rennet in it? Anybody know? Thanks, Donna! Audrey S. Guest guest
Doesn't that sound great?? I love Heath bar -- unfortunately, people at work don't. When I brought German chocolate cupcakes for another co-worker's birthday (used the recipe on the Baker's German's Sweet Chocolate package -- good, but complicated), I had to do 1/2 with plain chocolate frosting instead of the yummy coconut stuff. Some people just don't know what they're missing! BUT, I'll need to do 2 batches anyway, so... maybe 1/2 Heath and 1/2 Milky Way? I'm excited now! Audrey S. Guest guest
I've made these before. The candy bar was too big. Try them again with the Heath broken up and some broken Hershey bar instead. I would love to test your next batch. Betcha it's good. Guest guest
Oh man, I could eat the whole top off a German chocolate cake. Isn't it fun to play around with a recipe. Once you get your recipe right you will have it as a favorite keeper. Have fun, give it a try again. Donna Rainy day mushroom pillow, colors green, brown and yellow. Wonder if they'll turn back ever, contemplating what together, poison dreams, assorted dreams, mushroom dreams. I love Heath bar -- unfortunately, people at work don't. When I brought German chocolate cupcakes for another co-worker's birthday (used the recipe on the Baker's German's Sweet Chocolate package -- good, but complicated) , I had to do 1/2 with plain chocolate frosting instead of the yummy coconut stuff. Some people just don't know what they're missing! BUT, I'll need to do 2 batches anyway, so... maybe 1/2 Heath and 1/2 Milky Way? I'm excited now! Audrey S. Guest guest
I used to make a beautiful desert for Christmas. I bought a lovely glass bowl, ya know that ones that have the stem?? And using chocolate mousse, whipped cream, and crushed health bars, I layered them in the glass bowl. It was easy. And elegant looking. sue Audrey Snyder wrote: > > > I think you're right, freezing it would help. I'll try a Milky Way. I'm > going to try it with a Heath bar sometime, too.
