Guest guest
I'm so excited. I ordered a steamer that has three seperate cooking compartments that operate independently of each other. The timer can be set so all the food is done at the same time. Plus, it has herb infusers for each compartment. I can't wait to try it out. I think tonight I'll try unfried rice, braised napa cabbage and Cantonese steamed (dare I say it) pork. Tonight is not one of our vegetarian nights. We tried tofu a while back an neither of us cared for it. I have some experimenting to do. Thank you for the warm welcome. Quite a few of the recipes sound very good. I'll be giving them a try as well. Any suggestions for things to cook in the steamer?? Karen
Guest guest
Hi Karen, I don't know what to tell you about the steamer (somebody else will, though!) but I wanted to tell you that there are some of us who are vegetarians who don't care for tofu (and some that eat it straight out of the package!), or only like it fixed a couple of ways. I don't care for it except fried (yeah, not so good for me!) or in a dish I get from Whole Foods' deli. I haven't been able to figure out what to do with it at home to make it taste like actual food -- but I'll probably try again. There are lots of other good protein sources that are non-meat and non-tofu. Beans are a great one. As for " meaty " texture, I have subbed mushrooms for meat in a lot of the recipes I grew up with, and that works great (mushroom stroganoff is my absolute favorite!) I'm currently experimenting with eggplant. Hope your dinner tonight is great! Audrey S. On Thu, Apr 30, 2009 at 12:13 PM, extremelyhappycamper < bainofmyexistance wrote: > > > I'm so excited.
