Hi All you fab veggies

I have given birth via c section to an almost 8lb baby girl. She is

wonderful!!! Ophelia is perfectly healthy and happy on a veggie mummy diet, the

health visitor was taken aback at the prospect of a veggie upbringing, but i

was clear that it was healthy and fab!

Warmest Wishes to All

Congratulations to you and your family! A baby girl....how sweet. I had 7

C-sections.....you will do

great!! And, after all, cows don't eat meat to make milk....now do they!!

I nursed 5 of my 7 with great success.

I didn't nurse the first two.....I was too young, didn't have enough knowledge

and had no one to help me out with it back then.

My first C-section was an emergency......induced labor for 56 hours with

dilation only to 3 cm, contractions that lasted a minute and a half every minute

and a half.......then they did a section.....1965. I was lucky that the

incision on my uterus was the low cervical....tummy was the vertical kind. I

had pre-eclampsia....Rick was about 5 weeks early and weighed 5 lbs. 11 oz. and

is today a 6' 2 " CPA.....we were lucky. Second section was a repeat in

1968....Patrick weighed 6 lbs. 11 oz. and is today, like his big brother, 6' 2 "

tall. Third section in 1974.....repeat again....Aimee weighed 7 lbs. 1/2 oz.

.......4th repeat section in 1976.....Catherine weighed 7 lbs. 3 oz. You have

to remember that VBAC's did not really get around to hitting the middle of the

country until much later even though they were doing them in California by the

mid 1970's.....and my doctor, Luis Leib, was old school and Chief of the Ob/Gyn

Staff at St. Paul Hospital (now St. Paul Medical Center) in Dallas from 1967

until 1997 so he was more in favor of repeat c-sections. Got divorced and

remarried.....my 5th section was in 1983...Amanda, weighed 6 lbs. 9 oz., is now

a department head and graphic design artist........then 6th one was in

1988....Sara, 7 lbs. 7 oz.....is now a junior music ed major in college......I

was going to try for VBAC ....we went to classes at St. Paul's but it just

didn't work out so had a repeat....by the 7th section in February of 1990, I

gave up the idea of having a VBAC.....Ashley weighed 7 lbs. 15 oz. and is now a

freshman in college majoring in art.

What are they gonna do.......I got pregnant at the drop of a hat and love

being pregnant and everyone of my kids. I would probably have had more if my

husband had not gotten " fixed " after we had Ashley. I always did great and

went from being hospitalized from 7 days after my first section to 5 days, 5

days, then 2 days on all of the rest. I have often said that I really should

be in the Guinness Book of Records as I had babies over 4 decades.....2 in the

60's, 2 in the 70's, 2 in the 80's and one in 1990. And, even though Ethel

Kennedy had more total children than I did.....she had natural births all but 6

sections. Dr. Leib knew me.....and knew my body could handle the sections I

had. He was my ob/gyn for 32 years when he passed away in 1999. I miss him

greatly. Luis delivered his last baby 2 weeks before he died and saw his

last patient a week before he died. He always put his patients first......a

good, good man.

Wow, Nancy -- you're a tough lady, I admire you! Not only having 7 children,

but raising them! I'm impressed! :)

Thanks.....you are sweet. I just love children....always have,

and always will. Our 12th grandson is due in September....

only granddaughter is 2 years old. We lost my oldest grandchild

and only other granddaughter last December in a one car roll

over accident......that has been very, very hard. She was 7 months

older than my 6th daughter and only 29 months older than my

youngest. I am hoping, someday, to have more granddaughters,

not that I don't love these little boys......it is just that I understand

girls and when boys get to a certain age.....they just go beyond me.

I was lucky had had a wonderful example for a mom and great kids!

Glad your sweet little bundle of joy arrived healthy and strong. Children are

the blessing, joy and sweetness of life. It is wonderful that you are raising

it to be a vegetarian. That is the best way.

I'm a 3rd generation vegetarian raising a 4th.

Have a blessed and happy day,

Judy
