Here is my recipe for Black bean burgers, I have brought this to several

BBQ's and everyone eats them vegetarian or non vegetarian.

Black Bean Burgers

2 - 1 lb 13 oz can black beans drained and rinsed

3/4 cup oats ground to flour

1/4 cup ground flax seeds

1 medium onion diced

4 cloves garlic baked or to taste

1 tsp ground cumin

2 tsp chile powder

red pepper flakes

Ener-g Egg replacer to equal 2 eggs

Preheat oven to 400 degrees

Mash black beans

Add oatmeal and flax seeds to beans and mix

Add onions, garlic, cumin powder, chile powder, red pepper flakes stir

to

combine

Add egg replacer mix

Lightly oil a cookie sheet.

Oil hands

Make patties

bake in a 400 degree oven for 30 - 35 minutes turning at 15 minutes

Eat and enjoy

I ordered Chili's black bean burger last night -- only ate half of it,

because it was huge. I had the other half for lunch today. It was great both

times :) So much better than Morningstar Farms', which I had thought was

pretty darn good. I'm inspired now to make my own black bean burgers,

mmmm...!

It's nice to find options like that in a chain restaurant, so I can go out

to eat with friends and family where they want to go, and not have to eat

another boring baked potato. Friday's is especially unfriendly to

vegetarians. At Applebee's, my main option is a salad without the chicken,

which is ok.

Thank you.

The last time I made it I used 4 cans of beans and I think I got 10 burgers.

It depends on how big you make them also. When I bring them to a BBQ I

cook them before I go so they don't stick to grill.

I hope you enjoy them.

One hint I usually line the cookie sheet with parchment paper.

I too ordered the black bean burger at chili's, but had them add mushrooms and

melted cheese.  It was delicious and way too large for one person.  I could
