Re: Thanks Diane Quinoa Soup with Avocado & Corn

You're so welcome flower lady :) I hope you like it. Does red quinoa

taste different from the regular stuff? I had the last of the soup

tonight, yum.

Peace,

Diane

I'm planning a bulk bin field trip next weekend to my local mecca:

Central Market, bulk bin heaven. If they don't have it, I'll take you

up on your sweet offer, thank you! Do you have any requests for tea?

Central market has great teas....

Peace,

Diane

I love red quinoa! " They " say it tastes the same as the regular one, but

I think it has a little bit more of a crunchy nutty yummyness. Maybe I'm

just looking for an excuse to have more because it's sooo pretty :) I'm

curious to hear what you think of it. xxoo, Mo

Yay! I'm so glad you and Donna think red quinoa tastes better, too. I

like both kinds a lot. It's just weird to keep reading that they taste

the same when I don't think they do. But now I know I'm not the only one

:) Peace, Mo

Whole Foods would be your best bet although if you have a Central Market or

some other kind of " health " food store,

you can probably find it there also. My daughter, in Arlington, Texas,

bought some red quinoa the other day. I can't wait to try it as I have only

had regular quinoa before. Just remember to be sure to rinse the quinoa 4 or 5

times, well, before you cook it. I love quinoa. I bought it the first time

in 1987 at a Windstar Symposium in Snowmass, Colorado. I had never heard of it

and didn't know anyone else, where I lived, who had either. It was very hard

to find back then.....now it is just a matter of living close to a Whole Foods

or other good health food type store.

I use it in place of brown rice in some recipes and love to add it to soup.

I've never tasted quinoa and never heard of it until I joined here. You have

me wanting to try it so I'll look for it the next time I go to the store or do I

need to get it from Whole Foods?

Has anyone tried black quinoa? Our Co-Op has regular in the bulk bins

and alternates between the black and red in another bin. I've had the

red but haven't tried the black yet.

Trader Joe's has it, if you shop there.
