Guest guest
Oh yeah, fresh pineapple is a big one, I have to make sure and rinse my mouth and/or brush my teeth after that one. Strawberries do not bother me. Audrey S. Guest guest
I stopped using toothpastes with Sodium Laurel Sulfate (sp?) in them, also known as SLS, and it has helped my canker sores tremendously. My dadad has switched with the same results. You probably already knew that tip, but it really worked wonders for me. I hardly ever get them anymore. Guest guest
Jacki, is there any major brand (available at Walmart or Target or the grocery store) that doesn't have SLS in it? What brand do you use? Audrey S. Guest guest
One doctor told me to take l-lysene supplements. I did, for about 3 months no difference. Never heard vitamin c, either. I do get more canker sores when I get stressed out. When I took licensing tests about 2 years ago, my mouth was so full of canker sores I could barely eat. Eating is difficult with one canker sore, but near impossible with more than 2. I've gotten almost dime-sized ones before. Not fun. Audrey S. er wrote: > > > > What? Guest guest
for caker sores, dip a q-tip in Mylanta or Malox and paint the canker sore. If inside your mouth, just swish it around inside your mouth. It dilutes the acidity and heals them right up. Judy - Audrey Snyder Monday, April 20, 2009 4:55 PM Re: Re: Audrey cankor sores. Guest guest
I use Tom's of Maine...I can find it at both Wal-Mart and my local grocery store. I like them because they operate their company in a very conscientious way, and their products are great! I THINK Kiss My Face does not have SLS in it, but check the label. One word of caution: sometimes the more natural toothpastes do not have flouride in them, check the label! Hope it works for you like it has for me! -Jacki in FL , Audrey Snyder <AudeeBird wrote: > > Jacki, is there any major brand (available at Walmart or Target or the > grocery store) that doesn't have SLS in it? Guest guest
Thanks Jackie, I use the more " friendly " toothpastes like Tom's and Desert Essense. They don't have it in them. I haven't always though, and come to think of it, it has been a few years since I have had any problems. ¸.·´ .·´¨¨)) ((¸¸.·´ .·´ -:¦:- Terri -:¦:- ((¸¸.·´ Genesis 2:15 The Lord God then took the man and settled him in the garden of Eden, to cultivate and care for it. Guest guest
I sometimes get cankor sores, what we have always called " ulcers " inside my mouth. I have always read and I have had several doctors tell me that they are caused by a herpes virus that lives deep in the nerve......a herpes zoster, I think is what he said.....it is the same virus that causes chicken pox. When you are stress, or your resistance is down for some reason, the virus surfaces and causes the ulcer. My daddy used to put a liquid camphor on them......didn't really help. My doctor told me that they will heal by themselves in 10 days.....whether you put anything on them or whether you don't. SO, now I just wait it out but they can certainly be painful. I had two under my tongue a few weeks ago.....ugh. But, thankfully, they are gone now. Nancy C.
Guest guest
I used to use some kind of OTC gel that creates a coating over them, but it hurt almost as bad as the canker sore. Now I put hydrogen peroxide on a q-tip and dab it on the sore -- that's probably not good, as it kills cells, but it helps the pain! I'll have to try Judy's suggestion about Maalox... 10 days is an awful long time if you have two or more of them... Audrey S. Guest guest
That's why it makes your teeth look whiter after you rinse with it -- it kills the bacteria on the teeth. That's why it turns your tongue white, too, and why you can use it for disinfecting shallow wounds but the bottle says not to use it for deep wounds. Audrey S.
