Guest guest
I meant to say use the McKays or Bill's Best Seasoning at 1 T. of seasoning per cup of water to make the broth. Judy - wwjd Wednesday, March 18, 2009 8:47 PM Re:Flavoring TVP An excellent way to flavor the unflavored TVP is to soak in hot water and add 1 t. of either Bill Best 'Chick-nish or Beaf " vegetarian seasonings or Mc Kays " Chicken " of " Beef " style seasoning. Both are all vegetarian and make wonderful broths for using in soups, ricecooking water rice, gravies, flavoring TVP, etc. .. Anything that you would put in a flavored broth. There are many places to buy it on the internet, carried in most health food stores, and at Adventist Book Centers(they all have an excellent health food store in them). http://www.uncledons.com/uncledons/scripts/prodView.asp?idProduct=62 http://www.mckays-seasoning.com/ Judy
Guest guest
I haven't tried McKay's " beef " seasoning, but I love the " chicken " seasoning. It's got much less sodium than the vegetarian chicken-flavored boullion I got at Whole Foods -- cheaper, too. Audrey S. Guest guest
I now use Judy's imitation chicken seasoning for everything. Including flavoring TVP " Chicken Seasoning " 1 1/3 c. Nutrititional Yeast Flakes 3 T. Onion Powder 2 1/2 t. Garlic Powder 2 1/2 t. Salt 2 T. Parsley 1/2 t. Celery Salt 2 T. Italian Seasoning 1 t. Tumeric Mix together and store in a ziplock bag for use in recipes that call for Chicken Seasoning. It is good in Soups, breading meal and for use in making Scrambled Egg Tofu. To made a " chicken " broth, mix 1 Tbsp. of this mixture with 1 c. of water. Audrey Snyder wrote: > > I haven't tried McKay's " beef " seasoning, but I love the " chicken " > seasoning. Guest guest
Thanks for posting this! It sounds much easier (and cheaper) than ordering the commercial seasonings! Guest guest
Thank Sue. It really is good and so easy to make and have on hand isn't it. I'm glad you have enjoyed it and thanks for the review. Judy - Sue Ruger Thursday, March 19, 2009 9:26 AM Re: Re:Flavoring TVP I now use Judy's imitation chicken seasoning for everything. Guest guest
It's really a great seasoning. The Yeast Flakes were a little $$, but I found I really liked it sprinkled on my salad every night. So, it's something else new I have added to my diet. sue wwjd wrote: > > Thank Sue.
